Software
The FIM participates in several software programs at the faculty and university level, which provide employees and students with cheap or even free access to software licenses. Information on software procurement for faculties and institutions can be found at the end of this website.
Free software licenses for faculty members
The FIM has entered into agreements with several software providers to allow students, professors, and staff to use software free of charge.
The following software is currently available free of charge:
- Mathematics: Matlab (up to release 2023a). Under a cross-faculty university scientist license, professors and staff may install and use Matlab on their work computers. Students can use Matlab in the FIM student computer pools under a classroom license without needing an individual license key.
- Python: JetBrains Pycharm
- Software development: IBM Rational Architect
- XML: JetBrains IntelliJ Idea
- UML: Visual Paradigm. Aus dem Partnership Acknowledgement des Softwareherstellers:"Universitaet Passau is an academic partner of Visual Paradigm. The usage of Visual Paradigm's UML modeler, BPMN and DFD tools give students the opportunity to learn about IT development."
- UML: Yatta UML-Lab.
