Mathematics and Informatics Education Unit (LMI)

The main focus of the teaching and research institute ‘Mathematics and Informatics Education Unit’ (LMI) is early education in mathematics and computer science, as well as maintaining contact with schools in the region.

Our focus is on combining teaching and research activities in the field of didactics for mathematics and computer science. Our work includes:

• Coordinating and running university courses as part of teacher training programmes for mathematics and computer science
• Coordinating support for the didactic workshops for mathematics and computer science
• Realising individual and joint projects
• Coordinating and running further training for teachers of all school types in mathematics and computer science
• Coordinating and teaching courses for school pupils in mathematics and computer science
• Organising and holding colloquia and conferences on current topics in mathematics and computer science didactics
• Applying for and carrying out individual and joint research projects in mathematics and computer science didactics
• Participating in university events related to teacher training and didactics
• Collaboration in the Centre for Teacher Training, Subject and University Didactics (ZLF)
• Collaboration in national and international STEM initiatives in didactics and teacher training.

The Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics (FIM) supports school pupils in developing their STEM talents with a wide range of courses and events.
