Prof. Dr. Hans P. Reiser held the Junior Professorship until 31 December 2021 and was latterly on leave to represent the Chair of Reliable Distributed Systems.

Since 1 January 2022, Prof. Dr Hans P. Reiser has been a professor at Reykjavík University, Iceland.
The chair is a member of the Passau Institute of Digital Security (PIDS).
The research areas of the chair span from fault and intrusion tolerant replication and the early detection of security incidents in cloud environments to the development of innovative security concepts at the operating system and hypervisor level. The range of courses offered in teaching also focuses on the security and reliability of cloud environments and distributed systems.
