Information for exchange students
Studying at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics with little or no German language skills
In general, courses forming part of the Faculty's undergraduate (bachelor's) degree programmes are taught in German, whereas the vast majority of modules within postgraduate (master's) degree programmes are taught in English.
It is your responsibility to determine whether a sufficient selection of modules will be available for you to choose from depending on your individual linguistic and scientific competencies.
Learning Agreements
Every incoming exchange student who is required to complete a Learning Agreement for his or her exchange programme must seek recognition from the Faculty's Board of Examiners before the mobility. Please contact the person in charge at your home institution's international office in order to learn whether a Learning Agreement is necessary and to obtain the required forms.
For advice or approval by the Board of Examiners, please submit a draft of your Learning Agreement to the Faculty's International Coordinator by e-mail (wolfgang.mages@uni-passau.de) at least six weeks before your intended arrival. Changes to the original proposal are possible (cf. "During the Mobility" form), but only if you have received the approval of the Board of Examiners before your arrival.
No new Learning Agreement will be signed once your mobility has started.
Master's students
International students who are already enrolled in a master's programme at their home institution will be considered master's students at the University of Passau, too. They may freely choose courses from all the master's-level modules offered within their degree programme at our Faculty, most of which are English-taught. Bachelor's modules are generally not open to master's students.
Please note that not every module is offered every semester!
For an impression of the curriculum, please consult our module catalogues or go to the selection of English-language courses currently taught or, a few weeks before the start of the semester in April or October, modules offered in English in the upcoming semester.
Bachelor's students
Undergraduate students who have successfully completed the first half of their bachelor's programme before coming to the University of Passau are permitted to participate in the following English-language modules offered (primarily to master's students) at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics. Individual prerequisites and entry restrictions for courses may apply.

Undergraduate students who are in the first half of their bachelor's programme are not eligible for participation in master's modules. If you wish to study master's modules at our Faculty, we recommend that you schedule your student mobility for a later time in your degree programme.
Bachelor's students who wish to complete any master's-level modules not included in the lists above must seek the relevant professor's approval in writing (e.g. by e-mail) and submit it to the International Coordinator along with the proposed Learning Agreement.
